Client interviews and consultations where the recording is privileged. The transcript stays on the device and can be deleted per session.
LocalScribe records, transcribes, labels speakers, summarises and extracts to-dos — entirely on your iPhone. There is no upload step, so there is nothing to leak, stall or lose in the cloud.
Writing the minutes is not the hard part. The hard part is that the recording is not allowed to leave the room. These are the people who tell us so most often.
Client interviews and consultations where the recording is privileged. The transcript stays on the device and can be deleted per session.
Interview recordings that must not sit on a third-party server. Export the transcript as Markdown or Word and keep the audio local.
Discovery calls and site visits. Speaker labels plus a summary turn an hour of audio into a one-page minute.
Weekly syncs and lectures. Search across every past transcript instead of scrubbing the audio timeline.
Transcription is only the first step. LocalScribe also separates speakers, writes the summary, pulls out to-dos and exports in the format your workflow already uses.
Long recordings are split into slices and transcribed with the system speech engine, on-device assets first. Word-level timestamps let you jump from any sentence straight to the audio.
Speakers are labelled automatically. Register a name once and LocalScribe recognises that voice in later recordings, so the transcript reads like a real meeting minute.
Each session gets a summary with topic, key conclusions and open questions, plus to-dos with due dates such as “next Wednesday”. To-dos can be written into your calendar.
Export a single session or a batch, with or without the compressed audio. Word and PDF are generated locally, so nothing passes through a conversion service.
Search across every transcript by keyword or ask a question in plain language. LocalScribe returns the original sentences with their source session — not a generated guess.
A three-column layout on iPad, a two-column layout with a fold-aware gutter on foldables, and Home Screen widgets for the sessions you are in the middle of.
There is no account to create and no import step. Press record, then read.
Record in the app or import an audio file. Recordings continue across screen lock, and a call interruption is split into a new part instead of losing the file.
Transcription starts when you stop, or live while recording. You can re-run a session later with a different language setting.
Correct a word, label a speaker, generate the summary, then export or send the to-dos to your calendar.
Most transcription apps send audio to a server and return text. LocalScribe does not have that step: the audio, the transcript and the summary stay inside the app sandbox.

You can finish real work before paying anything. Prices are always shown by the App Store before you confirm — never buried behind a setup flow.

No. There is no upload path in the app. Transcription uses the system speech engine configured for on-device recognition, and every derived artefact — transcript, speaker labels, summary, export — is produced locally.
Accuracy depends on recording quality, distance to the microphone and background noise. On-device recognition is strong for clear, single-speaker audio and weaker in noisy rooms or with heavy jargon. Every word carries a confidence marker, so you can jump to the uncertain parts and correct them.
The free plan allows three full transcriptions per month, each up to 30 minutes. The quota resets at the start of each calendar month; existing transcripts are never taken away.
Recording laws differ by jurisdiction — some places require every participant to consent. LocalScribe shows a notice before the first recording and asks you to comply with local law. That responsibility stays with you.
Yes. Recording, transcription with on-device assets, summarisation and export all work in airplane mode. Only StoreKit purchase verification needs a connection.
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling keeps access until the paid period ends. A lifetime purchase has nothing to cancel.
Install, record something you would have had to write up by hand, and read the transcript. If it saves you ten minutes, it has paid for the download.
